Kensington is an unincorporated community of about 2200 homes, located in the East Bay Hills between Berkeley and El Cerrito. Kensington maintains its own police department, as well as park and recreation programs for all ages, via the Kensington Police Protection & Community Services District. The Kensington Fire Protection District provides fire protection and emergency medical services via a contract with El Cerrito.

At its November 29, 2016 meeting, the Kensington Police Officers Association voted to submit a letter to the KPPCSD Board encouraging it to appoint former Interim General Manager/Chief of Police, Kevin Hart. (Read the letter…)
The next meeting of the KPPCSD Board of Directors will take place on Thursday, December 8, 2016. There will be a closed session starting at 6 pm followed by the regular open session starting at 7:30 pm.
